The Egyptian Patent Office was established in 1951 according to the Law No. 132 of 1949. The Office is affiliated to the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology since 1971. The Intellectual Property Law was amended by another one No. 82 of 2002 which was published on 3rd June 2002. The new law included fields among the scope of protection; utility models, designs and layout of semiconductors and undisclosed information.
